This bio writing sample displays work from my early years of working as a freelance copywriter for clients. I handled foodpreneur Ann’s website creation, email newsletter management and other, writing- and web-related tasks.
I mention this because the site design appears somewhat outdated. This is what websites looked like in the early 00s. Nevertheless, I chose to share this sample because it reflects my bio writing, where the information is gathered from different sources and presented cohesively. Ann’s natural talent for storytelling is effectively summed up in this bio that I wrote from scratch using her existing published content to lend depth and detail.
A bio like this can take as few as 2 hours, but may take as many as 5 hours or longer, to create. It depends on the client and how they wish to work. If I’m left to my own devices and given a reasonable amount of information, I’m able to craft a professional bio in a relatively short amount of time… say, 2 or 3 days’ turnaround.
My copywriting rate is $70 per hour, estimating a bio like this one to run about 5 hours, with edits, for an average project estimate of $350.00 BUT the client has the option to take one draft and run with it on their own, setting the budget at about 2 hours of paid work.
