Copywriters are a dime a dozen, but not all of them know the tricks. You definitely need SEO implemented as part of your web content creation strategy.
Want Web Copywriting Services from Seasoned Experts?
The research, planning and extra detail that goes into SEO does make your website take a big longer. But if you compare performance of with and without, you’ll clearly see that it’s worth the extra hours spent.
What Should Web Copywriting for Static Pages Consist Of?
Write all of the basic (static) pages of your website. These pages will appear in the top or main navigation. We call them “top level” pages. Ideally, links from these pages would lead to specific article pages, which we call “deep content.”
Your top level website pages can include but are not limited to:
- Home
- About
- Services and/or Products
- Testimonials
Web Copywriting for Static Pages: Approach
Some people go for “less is more,” with their website’s main pages. But with content as the main driver and primary form of persuasion, why gloss over these important details?
Start by researching your keywords. The main focus of your site, or the type of services you offer, will dictate your chosen keywords. You can also tack on the local, if you’re targeting nearby towns in your copy.
Next, write the content that readers will see when they visit each of your main pages. Remember, the goal for each of these pages is “lead capture.”
What to Include on Each of Your Site’s Main Pages
Homepage: State the problem that your site, service or product solves. The define your main points of how this is done. Static pages shouldn’t overwhelm. They’re just a taste of what’s to come, so you want the message to be brief (say, 300 to 400 words TOPS); and to have some emotional pull. Don’t forget your call to action.
About page: People who see your social posts zoom right over to this spot when they want to find out who’s behind the words they just read or heard. Capture interest and compel with your riveting tale here. Again, don’t get too rambly or wordy. Your goal is to keep readers focused and the spur them to action – sign up for your list.
Services and/or Products page: this content will take some planning and strategizing. You have many options for how to present your services or your wares. Will you give a brief overview and list an hourly dollar amount? Or will you show a menu of offerings? Packages, memberships… these too, can be a part of your services and/or products page. Again, keep with the theme of capturing new sign-ups.
Testimonials page: Testimonials remain the most powerful way to build confidence in your expertise and convince potential customers to reach out. Ask for these from past clients and coworkers via email. Or, copy and paste the endorsements provided on LinkedIn, Facebook or Google.
Optional, Additional Website Content Pages
Other pages you might want to include in your main navigation: portfolio or samples, FAQ, AND don’t forget the contact pages. My writing services wouldn’t be needed for either of those, so they’re not shown in the deliverable for this package BUT you do need them anyway.
If you have trouble organizing your thoughts, I’ll send you a questionnaire to help you get started.
Once the copy is written, your chosen designer will add the content to the main navigation pages of your company website or blog. Then they’ll search engine optimize each page, and publish.
