A Day in the Life of a Work from Home Copywriter

Who wants to join me for a day in the life of an online business owner mom?

What does your typical day look like? What did you do today? Here’s what I did.

Went to bed at 10:00 and found myself awake at 3:00 am.

Tried to get back to sleep but I was still up at 4:00. So I wrote some mac and cheese variation recipes for my pot luck content PLR club.

Went back to sleep at 5:00 and woke up 45 minutes late at 6:45.

Jumped in the shower, washed my hair, shaved my legs.

Ran into the kitchen to find some breakfast for my son. Made a strawberry banana yogurt smoothie and toast with peanut butter and honey.

While the smoothie was blending and the toast was toasting, I had to switch gears and start cleaning out some gross liquid that had dripped out of a package of thawing meat in the bottom of my fridge.

This involved rinsing off various items in the fridge and then leaving them all around the sink area to drip dry.

Set it up in a little container with my son’s food, to grab and run out of the house with so he could have breakfast while driving to school.

Boiled myself some tea, added milk and swigged it down.

Grabbed our stuff and ran to the car, drove my son to school. Searched for copywriting gigs while sitting in the drop off line.

Saw a potential opportunity so quickly applied by clicking a few links where my profile had a resume and cover letter already set up.

After hitting send I was routed to a proficiency test. Said goodbye to my son and dropped him off. Pulled into a nearby parking lot to see what was going on with this portion of the application.

Wasn’t sure if this was required in order to submit my resume, so I just did it, flying through some of the questions thinking it would have been better if I had some extra time to do this.

Apologized in the comment section, hit send on the test.

Drove back home, made myself a peanut butter on toast. Ate that while writing a blog post for my copywriting blog.

The Post: PLR Rewriting Service

PLR rewriting service

This took about an hour including formatting the post, adding SEO extras, finding an image, editing the image in Canva, editing the post, and publishing.

Responded on Facebook to thank a fellow marketer for her advice, and shared something I had learned recently about SEO.

Got up from that and decided I should probably make dinner otherwise I wasn’t going to have any time to go to the gym later.

I put some potatoes with oil, garlic and herbs into the oven along with four fat pork chops with some herbs.

I proceeded to log into a few different social media accounts and go back and forth sharing the image from my copywriting post, and then going back and forth copying and pasting the link and adding hashtags.

Checked my copywriting email account but there was no update from my current client.

Checked my Wordfeeder done for you content membership email and there was nothing urgent to respond to.

After about an hour I took the pork chops out of the oven to let them rest. Then I started adding more recipes to my macaroni and cheese PLR that I was creating.

Took pictures of the early dinner I made. Posted them on my food page. Added hashtags. Cross posted.

Ate one of the pork chops and some salad. Put the rest of the food in containers in the refrigerator.

Logged into my meme page and started speed-sharing some memes that I had saved from the night before.

Started feeling crappy and decided to do 10 minutes of yoga.

Felt better but also groggy so took a half a snooze for about 30 minutes.

Woke up, washed up and had some coffee.

Washed the dishes.

Called up our dentist to reschedule an appointment for the third time that they keep moving on us.

Gave my guinea pigs water and made sure they had some food.

Washed a load of towels. Wiped down the bathroom sink.

Washed a load of my son’s clothes.

Started a new Twitter or X account because mine appears to be gone. Shared my copywriting update over there.

2:30 p.m. Time to start thinking about picking up my son. Decided to change into gym clothes. Figured it was nice so we could walk after school.

Picked up my son at school. Found out he did not have gym class today so we headed straight to the high school and nearby park to trek up the big hill.

Came back and my son did not have homework. I got him a snack of peaches and frozen strawberries, and a glass of water.

Checked emails again but still not a lot happening today. Deleted a mess of junk mails.

Shared another handful of memes and forwarded a couple of funny, kid friendly ones to my son.

Decided it was time to write another article for my local website and ask for quotes from various wellness experts and business owners.

I created another graphic for this in Canva and put out the word on my wellness page that I was looking for quotes for the article.

Cross-posted that in my group and on my main page.

Went to the gym and did the bike for 40 minutes.

Drove back home and took a quick shower.

Put the cooked food from earlier into a pan in the oven, heated it up for us and we had a nice tasty meal.

My son cleared the table and moved his laundry to the dryer. He didn’t have homework so he went off to do some gaming.

Did the dinner dishes.

Logged into a writers’ site I belong to, to check for any writing opportunities. Found one that looked mildly interesting. Emailed the person mentioned in the job posting and attached my resume.

9pm: writing this list for the heck of it. Probably no one will read it, but that’s okay.

Do you work from home too? What did you do today?
